Adapted from Elemental Mimicry- Superpower Wiki
Lately, I have been exploring various realms of genre fiction and wondering if there was a way to combine them in a tabletop experience. This means figuring out a way to balance unrelated effects against each other. I love Mutants and Masterminds for its ability to describe almost any character ability you can think of, so I am experimenting with M&M’s tools to work on ways to fold multiple genres together.
Elemental Mimicry
The power to transform into or have a physical body made up of elements. Technique of Elemental Manipulation.
Capabilities
The user is made of or can transform their body into elements. This typically includes the classical elements, but it could also include exotic things like shadow, plant matter, or plastic, depending on the setting. In some cases, transforming users may retain their original anatomy (e.g., a humanoid shape and possibly even internal organs) while changing only the composition of their physical form. Alternately, some users may transform into homogeneous matter without any part of their form being more important than the other.
Some users are born and composed of their element, often called 'Elementals'. Such users may be composed of elemental matter/energy and have no specific power over those elements, while others might have Elemental Manipulation tied to their nature. Elementals in fiction range from mindless incarnations of flame to ancient and wise spirits, and they might take any number of forms. Depending on the setting, Elementals may additionally be classed as spirits, gods, genies, fey, or any number of other such beings.
Applications
Earth Mimicry
The power to transform into or have a physical body made up of earth or other earthen substance.
