Source Player Core pg. 436
The Dazzled condition represents temporary sensory overload or visual impairment. If vision is your character’s only precise sense, every object and creature is considered concealed. This requires a flat check to target or perceive anything with sight-based actions successfully.
The Dazzled condition persists until its stated duration ends, usually after a short period or until the source of dazzling is mitigated or removed, such as shutting off the spotlight or averting one's gaze.
When subjected to intense or disorienting light—such as a spotlight, energy weapon flash, or strobing hazard—characters may suddenly find their eyes overstimulated. Vision becomes unreliable; everything appears blurred, shifting, or hidden. Precise details fade, and threats or objects in the vicinity are harder to target or react to.
Mechanics and Strategy
Mechanically, Dazzled increases the uncertainty in combat or skill checks, forcing additional rolls and risk for any sight-dependent actions. The condition can disrupt carefully planned attacks and force adaptive play, possibly encouraging use of alternate senses or teamwork to mitigate visual impairment.
