Your vision pierces through non-magical fog, mist, rain, and snow. You don’t take circumstance penalties to ranged attacks or Perception checks caused by non-magical precipitation, and your targeted attacks don’t require a flat check to succeed against a target concealed only by such effects.
Adventuring With Murksight
Investigation & Mystery
The Vanishing Village: A village shrouded in constant, unnatural fog reports missing persons. The witch's Murksight can cut through the fog, allowing them to investigate without penalties.
The Whispering Mists: Rumors spread of unsettling whispers coming from a dense, ever-present mist. The witch can lead an investigation, unaffected by the mist's concealing properties, to uncover the source of the voices.
The Shrouded Murders: A series of murders occur during heavy rain and fog. The local guard is unable to catch the culprit due to impaired visibility. The witch's ability to see through the precipitation makes them an invaluable asset.
Exploration & Survival
Lost in the Whiteout: A group of travelers gets lost in a blinding snowstorm. The witch, unaffected by the blizzard's effects, must guide them to safety and potentially uncover a hidden threat within the storm.
Navigating the Mire: A treacherous swamp is permanently covered in thick fog. The witch, able to ignore the fog's concealment, is hired to navigate the dangerous terrain and find a lost artifact or ancient ruin.
Tracking Through the Downpour: A wanted criminal escapes into a torrential downpour. The witch's ability to track them without being hindered by the rain makes them the only one capable of catching the fugitive.
Intrigue & Politics
Secret Meetings in the Mist: Political negotiations are being held in a location constantly blanketed by fog, making it impossible to observe who is attending. The witch's Murksight can reveal the attendees and uncover hidden agendas.
Escaping Under Cover of Darkness (and Fog): A noble is set to be assassinated but plans to escape during a foggy night. The witch's vision can help protect them from pursuers and navigate the escape route.
Smuggling Through the Storm: Smugglers are using heavy storms and dense fog to move illegal goods. The witch's abilities can expose their operation and lead to their capture.
Supernatural & Horror
Haunted Fog: A village is being haunted by spirits that materialize from the fog. The witch, able to see through the fog, may see things others cannot, unveiling the nature of the haunting.
Creatures of the Mists: Strange creatures emerge from the fog, attacking travelers. The witch can effectively fight and track them without being hampered by the obscuring mists.
