Counterspell Feat 1
Trigger A creature Casts a Spell that you have prepared
When a foe Casts a Spell and you can see its manifestations, you can use your magic to disrupt it. You expend a prepared spell to counter the triggering creature's casting of that same spell. You lose your spell slot as if you had cast the triggering spell. You then attempt to counteract the triggering spell.
Special This feat has the trait corresponding to the tradition of spells you cast (arcane, divine, primal, or occult).
Adventuring with Counterspell
Arcane Anomaly Investigation
A series of magical mishaps plague a city district, ranging from minor enchantments gone awry to dangerously unpredictable spell effects. The players are hired by a local mage to investigate, specifically to intervene when the magic turns volatile. This provides numerous opportunities to use Counterspell and uncover the source of the magical disruptions, which might be anything from a malfunctioning magical artifact to a saboteur using strange spells.
Duelist's Challenge
A notorious spellcaster issues a public challenge to any who believe themselves proficient in magic, promising a large reward. The challenge involves magical duels, where Counterspell would be invaluable. The true purpose behind the duels could be a test for recruits for a secret society, or a diversion while the spellcaster plans something nefarious.
Magical Artifact Defense
An ancient magical artifact is being transported or studied in a secure location, but it is attracting unwanted attention from those who wish to steal or misuse its power. The Party is hired as part of the defense team, specifically tasked with preventing enemy spellcasters from using magic to bypass security or disable defenses.
Recovering Stolen Spells
A series of robberies target spellbooks and magical research materials from various masters of the mystical arts. The party is approached by one of the victims or is directly affected and asked to help investigate. Clues lead to a group specializing in using stolen spells against their former owners.
