Your consciousness is imprinted with fragments of knowledge from a previous existence or a forgotten data cache. Before you died or were re-encoded, you absorbed a wide variety of facts, and your soul or neural network still remembers slivers of this precious knowledge. You gain the trained proficiency rank in one skill of your choice and the Additional Lore skill feat as a bonus feat.

Data Adventure Hooks

Here are a few adventure hooks designed to appeal to players with the "Data From Another Life" feat, each leveraging a different aspect of the Starfall Galaxy's lore you've developed.

Hook 1: The Echoes of Terra

  • Premise: While on a standard scavenging run or a tourist pilgrimage to Terra, a character with the "Data From Another Life" feat experiences a sudden, jarring vision. They see a fragment of a pre-Incursion Terran citizen—not a soldier, but an engineer—in the moments before the Riftgate was activated. The vision isn't just a sight, but a feeling of frantic urgency and a specific, cryptic sequence of numbers or coordinates.

  • The Hook: The numbers are the access code to a hidden, pre-Incursion data cache located deep within the ruins of the Terran Republic's capital. The engineer had been trying to warn others about the dangers of the Riftgate project and had hidden critical information. The characters must now navigate the treacherous, demon-haunted ruins of old Terra, where remnants of the Incursion still linger, to find the cache before it's discovered by the Commission or extremist factions of the Genesis Ascendancy who would seek to erase any evidence of their progenitors' mistakes.

Hook 2: The Unbroken's Final Testament

  • Premise: A Sider Stratiotes with the "Data From Another Life" feat has a recurring, fragmented memory. It's not of Aethelred, but of a specific, unnamed Unbroken soldier who fell during the final push against the Soul Demon. The memory is a feeling of loyalty and a specific set of tactical data—a plan to preserve a vital piece of equipment or information. The memory leads to a previously undiscovered location in the Outer Sphere, a hidden outpost or a derelict ship.

  • The Hook: This outpost contains the final testament of the Unbroken Guard. It's a data log detailing the true events of the battle against the Soul Demon, a chronicle of the Genesis Ascendancy's origins, or perhaps a more subtle plan to revive Aethelred that goes against the fanatical cult's current dogma. The characters must decide whether to share this information with the Genesis Ascendancy, potentially causing a schism, or to use it for their own purposes, risking the wrath of the entire faction.

Hook 3: The Barathu's Regret

  • Premise: A character with the "Data From Another Life" feat suddenly "downloads" a sliver of an ancient, pre-Commune Barathu's memory. The Barathu's conscience is heavy with guilt over their role in creating the Khi'Myr Bio-Commune and the forced empathy of the Barathu RNA. This is a memory of a secret, a weakness, or an override protocol that can disrupt the empathic link of the Khi'Myr.

  • The Hook: The memory is a partial map to a forgotten Barathu archive hidden on a remote Frontier world, a location that the modern Bio-Commune has forgotten. The characters must race against time to reach the archive before a Khi'Myr scouting party, alerted to an anomaly in their psychic network, can find and destroy it. The archive could contain not only the override protocol, but also a wealth of forbidden biological knowledge that could change the balance of power in the galaxy.
