Adapted From The Philosophy of Blue-Black
What stirs your very core? What drives your existence? Are you guided by unyielding determination, always pushing the boundaries of your potential, or have you surrendered to the seductive embrace of complacency? If you desire anything from this life other than what the universe has to offer, you must put all of yourself into everything you are and everything you do, always building off of what came before. Such is the philosophy of the Void-Weavers. If you find familiarity in these whispers, then you align with these devotions. Yet, if you remain an observer on the outside, allow me to unveil how the combination of Blue and Black perceives the cosmos.
Blue-Black Devotion
Potential & Ambition: The Self-Made Destiny
Within each of us lies the seed of potential, a cosmic seed that sits dormant unless it is watered by ambition. For many individuals, this potential is never realized, but for those aligned with this paired devotion, it is the driving force behind their identity. For if one does not reach for the dizzying heights of who they could be, then such a life is a wasted one. A life of potential without the ambition to seize it is nothing more than an idealized state of being.
This mindset is unavoidable when we consider the two devotions that form this pair. Blue is a devotion whose gaze is fixed upon the stars; it sees potential in all things and believes that through molding and iteration, anything can become a better version of what it once was. Its partner, Black, holds the ambition to be the key to getting the most out of this life. For if we do not have the drive to make this life what we wish it to be, then there is no reason to go on living.
When these devotions come together, there is an insatiable thirst for constant improvement of knowledge, capabilities, influence, and power. The Void-Weavers look at life as a game to be figured out, manipulated, and won. They reject wholeheartedly their shared enemy, Green, who spouts nonsense about the virtues of accepting one's place, of toiling away at what you were born to be. A Void-Weaver tells you to reject any birthright and instead look to the image of the person you wish to be: someone strong, intelligent, and with the power to make things happen. It is a weak mindset to leave your life in the hands of something else when you could very well hoist yourself out of the mud and set your fate.
Logical & Practical: The Cosmic Calculation
Logic and practicality are what give this paired devotion confidence in its outlook. It does not mask its intentions in an idealistic way of thinking, but rather sees the universe for what it is and thus knows it must act in the methods that best suit it. There are no saviors coming; there will be no guide, only you, and what you can achieve.
For its part, Black states that it is a dog-eat-dog cosmos, and once we recognize that, we can remove any expectations we have of others and instead focus only on what can be done on the road to achieving our goals. On the other side, Blue sees life as a calculation to be solved—a simple matter of cause and effect. There is no greater force of feeling needed; it is merely the inputting of x to y in order to receive z. Nothing more. This leads to the cultivation of self-reliance, amorality, and pure logical thinking. By removing any outside factors and seeing life for what it is and how it can be experienced, you open yourself up to the many possibilities afforded to those who share your outlook.
Some may say you are shedding your humanity, but to that, a Void-Weaver says, "I am human. I have accepted what I am and the universe I was born into. It is you whose mind is clouded, whose outlook is stained by rose-colored glasses." A devotee desires to control their life fully, and allowing frivolous things like pity or sentimentality to interfere would only hinder their journey to reaching their full potential.
Visionary & Elitist: The Rule of the Deserving
How can a society form with such devotions at its core? If each person is looking for their own potential, how can a structure be formed? To that, we simply look around us at the Starfall Galaxy. Who do we see running the most powerful space stations, guiding the largest corporations, and managing the vast planetary states? It is not those with compassion in their hearts, or those who wish to lift others up. The cosmos is already controlled by those who only look to satiate their own ambitions.
If we recognize that our potential should be our guide and ambition our tool for achieving it, then we must trust that those who have reached their potential should lead those who have not. If we accept that logic and practicality are the methods to understand the universe, then we should allow them to structure our society. In this way, hierarchies are created through the application of this philosophy, as those in power must be deserving of their position, for they have reached such heights by being the most shrewd, intelligent, and driven among us. A Cerebral Nexus might create an elite council based on raw intelligence, while a ruthless Nephilim will climb the ranks of a criminal syndicate through sheer cunning and force of will.
This is not cruelty; it is reality. The Void-Weavers simply state how things are, not how they should be. They would call such a society "the rule of the deserving."
The Absolute: A Thought Experiment
What would be the result if we were to unleash the unrestrained growth of this devotion's potential? The question inevitably arises: what heights could they ascend to? Could there exist a final state, a loftily ambitious end goal that beckons them forward? For this hypothetical pinnacle, we have chosen to term it "the absolute."
This is the vision of a being that commands not only complete control, knowledge, and power but also an unparalleled level of influence. An entity that harmonizes Black's unquenchable thirst for power with Blue's insatiable hunger for knowledge. Such a being could effortlessly navigate the enigmatic expanses of the Rift, transmuting their visions into reality. Yet, we must entertain a notion: even this zenith, as extraordinary as it is, might not be the final destination. Could their ambitions, their ceaseless yearning for progress and potential, drive them to push the boundaries even further? Their narrative becomes an unending saga of ambition, a testament to their perpetual quest for knowledge, power, and influence.
