At higher reputation tiers, the Chronologists Guild entrusts its veteran members with real stewardship: the training and guidance of new talent. “Guild Legacy” recognizes a character’s place in Guild tradition by granting a permanent apprentice—an NPC initiate who learns under their direction, assists with research and missions, and grows into their own future as a chronomancer, technician, or scholar. It’s both a boon and a responsibility.

Faction: Chronologists Guild (This Boon can be purchased multiple times with separate factions; each faction offers its own initiates)
Reputation Tier: Admired (15 to 30 Favor)
Cost: 18 Favor, Companions are also paid Wages
Effect: The character gains a guild apprentice as a permanent retainer (CR–1 to CR3), selected by the Guild per personal relevance.
The apprentice is loyal, eager, and equipped with basic guild gear; typical roles may include research assistant, junior chronomancer, lab technician, or field aide. May assist in downtime projects, laboratory work, ritual setups, social schemes, and as a backup on missions. Follows standard retainer rules: can perform minor tasks independently, is not a combatant or deep lore specialist, can be developed or advanced through story, additional favor, or campaign support. The apprentice’s career can progress: through story investment, they may grow in rank, learn new skills, or eventually become an Expert or major NPC.
Special: Neglect, abuse, or misuse of the apprentice brings Guild consequences. The apprentice may be reassigned, or the PC may lose the boon and reputation. Advancement to higher CR is possible with further Guild favor or story arcs.
Guild Legacy seals a character’s role in sustaining the traditions of the Chronologists Guild—empowering them to train, teach, and inspire, while enriching the campaign with genuine mentorship and living lore.
