Adapted from Physics Manipulation- Superpower Wiki
Lately, I have been exploring various realms of genre fiction and wondering if there was a way to crash them together in a tabletop experience. This means figuring out a way to balance unrelated effects against each other. I love Mutants and Masterminds for its ability do describe almost any character ability you can think of, so I am experimenting with M&M’s tools to work on ways to fold multiple genres together.
Science Manipulation
The power to manipulate science. Opposite of Magic Manipulation. Variation of Fact Manipulation.
Also Called
Scientikinesis
Capabilities
Users can create, shape and manipulate science, a method to obtain knowledge through organized experimentation, examples of branches include Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology. The Study of Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. Science has also been considered by some as the only true way to acquire knowledge about reality and the nature of things.
Thus, users of this ability can use science in order to accomplish extraordinary feats. Stronger users of this ability may even warp the very nature and laws of the universe, allowing them to affect anything in the universe at any scale, from the biology of living things to the force of electromagnetism.
Applications
Biological Manipulation
The power to manipulate the biology of living organisms.
Physics Manipulation
The power to manipulate the laws of physics.
Limitation
May require extensive knowledge of science to properly use this power without unwanted side-effects.
Essential
Requires study, understanding and experiments.
Hazardous applications can backfire in devastating ways.
Inaccurate applications can cause dangerous side-effects.
With many variables to consider, it can take as much as one small mistake for the power to be pushed into disarray.
Optional
Users may grow obsessed with their research, losing touch with life and others, disregarding social standards and moral implications, and slowly turning into a sociopathic mad scientist.
May react disastrously with Magic.
