Adapted from Plasma Manipulation- Superpower Wiki
Lately, I have been exploring various realms of genre fiction and wondering if there was a way to crash them together in a tabletop experience. This means figuring out a way to balance unrelated effects against each other. I love Mutants and Masterminds for its ability do describe almost any character ability you can think of, so I am experimenting with M&M’s tools to work on ways to fold multiple genres together.
Plasma Manipulation
The ability to manipulate highly ionized gas. Sub-power of Elemental Manipulation and Ionic Manipulation, Variation of Matter Manipulation.
Capabilities
The user can create, shape, and manipulate plasma, a state of matter consisting of fully ionized gas of low density containing an approximately equal number of positive ions and electrons. Although they are unbound, these particles are not ‘free’. When the charges move, they generate electrical currents with magnetic fields, which are affected by each other’s fields.
Plasma is rare on planets but is present in electricity (lightning, St. Elmo's fire, ball-lightning), scorching flames, and polar aurora, or artificially in low-energy lights, electric arcs, etc. In space, plasma is the most common state for ordinary matter, most of which is in stars such as the Sun.
Mechanics
Plasma manipulation typically manifests as an array associated with a Fire descriptor; unrestricted Plasma manipulation is a highly versatile power and would likely be a variable power effect worth 7 power points per degree.
Applications
Elemental Telekinesis
The power to move plasma.
Fire Manipulation
The power to manipulate fire.
Plasma Flight
The power to fly by using plasma.
Plasma Manipulators
Supernova Character 10
Supernova's principal power is his ability to manifest the Solar Flame. Each of his plasma-based powers is derived from the Solar Flame. He can manifest a separate instance of solar flame from each of his hands because they are derived from the same power source. Using multiple powers at the same time diminishes their effect. Only one power can be used at one hundred percent of its power.
