D-List, King's Station

This submission is derived from my home game. One of my players wanted to play an unpowered hero. He envisioned a politically savvy character who addresses threats with covert actions and connections.

I know most tables typically have players build their own characters, this group is my son and some of his friends, who are relatively inexperienced role-players. I initiated game prep by asking everyone, “What kind of hero do you want to play?”; asking this question, I had predetermined that I would build whatever they came up with.  I settled on PL 10 for the first few sessions as a good place to introduce players to this system; this makes the superhero feel just right, lower levels don’t quite hit hard enough, and higher ones quickly get out of hand. I don’t like saying no once I have solicited player input; instead, I find ways to say yes. That is, work out some cognitive judo to work each player’s ideas into a cohesive party to work together in a setting that's fun for me to run.

King’s Station Headquarters 10

DOMAIN Supplemented this system with service tunnels, contingency routes, and emergency command stations. Site Epsilon, more commonly known as King’s Station, is the command center for the network

Features

Communication

King’s Station can receive and transmit on a wide range of radio and TV bands, monitor police and emergency channels, coordinate communications between members of the D-List, and so forth. The station possesses communications equipment, consoles, and monitors. The system can access special government channels and can grant a user illegal access to restricted systems.

Computer

A state-of-the-art computer system serves the entire installation. This allows characters to fully use the Technology skill, and the computer can be programmed to handle routine base functions (including monitoring communications channels and controlling defensive systems).

Concealed

The King’s Station is hidden within Carlton City’s transit network. Skill checks to locate the headquarters have their DC increased by +30

Garage

King’s Station’s garage houses the Knight Train and includes a ramp, elevator, or other access to move it in and out, facilities for repairing and maintaining the train, and a sliding access door.

Gym

King’s Station’s gym consists of weight-training and other exercise machines, space for working out, stretching, and similar exercises, and all the necessary amenities (lockers, showers, etc.).

Infirmary

The station’s infirmary consists of hospital beds and equipment for fully using the Treatment skill. It can provide treatment for ten characters.

Living Space

The installation includes all the necessary amenities for ten people to live there full-time. This includes bedrooms or private suites, kitchen facilities, dining area, and common living areas.

Power System

King’s Station houses an array of geothermal taps stron enough to power the station and the entire transit system should Charlton’s power grid fail.

Security System

Various locks and alarms protect the King’s Station from unauthorized access. A Technology check (DC 30) overcomes these systems.
