Guild Scout Background
Source Guilt of the Grave World pg. 11
As a Chronologists Guild field operative, your motto is Explore, Record, Stabilize. Your mission is to discover temporal anomalies in distant sectors, uncover secrets of the ancient Progenitor Metronome network, and learn more about the stability of time itself by getting out into the field and investigating. Whether you're mapping Rift-lanes, cataloging chronal distortions, or responding to reports of paradoxes, you serve as the Guild's eyes beyond the core stations.
Attribute Boosts: Intelligence or Charisma, and one free attribute boost.
Skill Training: You're trained in either the Piloting skill or the Society skill, and in a Lore skill of your choice (such as Metronome Lore, Rift Lore, or Temporal Anomaly Lore).
You gain the Multilingual skill feat.
Guild Scouts are typically early-career operatives dispatched to:
Survey newly discovered Metronomes or ruined Progenitor installations.
Escort Journeyman Tuners or Paradox Wardens into high-distortion Rift zones.
Gather field data for the Codex of Denied Futures or Metronome Scribes.
Serve as liaison between the Guild and independent colonies, corporations, or factions operating near temporal instabilities
Characters with this background might carry a junior-grade Pulse Rule, a Guild-issued data recorder, and provisional clearance to access certain restricted Guild channels. They are expected to file regular reports, cooperate with senior Guild members, and avoid reckless temporal experimentation without supervision.
This background works well for PCs who want Guild connections without committing to the full Chronologist archetype dedication, providing mechanical flexibility and strong narrative hooks for faction play.
