Adapted From- The Star Tide
The Realm of Garvfang lays to the far north, in frozen seas - a realm of tundra, dense boreal forest, and endless snowy wastes. The people of this land are hardy warriors, hardened by continual struggles against orcs, barbarians, and the land itself. Society here is militant and organized around the rule of a warrior king who rules with absolute authority. Garvfang is renowned for its axe-wielding warriors, the deadly reavers who man its fleets of ships. History still records when, in an age not long past, the Garvfang armada spread south - conquering the seas of the Gedan one by one and seizing Citadel Vilum as their own. Ultimately, a coalition of the free nations of the realm overcame the invading force, driving them back to the frozen north. Garvfang never fully recovered from the defeat and the current Warlord, Wulfkirk of Klakknes, dreams nightly of reclaiming his nation’s lost glory.
At the heart of Garvfang society is the figure of the warrior king, who rules with absolute authority over his subjects. The Realm is organized around a strict military hierarchy, with the king at its head and a network of lords, chieftains, and military commanders beneath him. The army is the backbone of the Garvfang state, with soldiers trained from a young age in the arts of war and equipped with the finest weapons and armor that the Realm can produce.
The Garvfangs are known throughout the realm for their prowess in battle, particularly their use of axes and their skill in naval warfare. The reavers who man the Garvfang fleets are some of the deadliest warriors on the high seas, feared and respected by friend and foe alike.
Despite their martial prowess, the Garvfangs are not without their weaknesses. Their harsh and authoritarian rule has led to resentment among some of their subjects, particularly those who do not share in the spoils of conquest and glory. The defeat at the hands of the free nations of the realm was a significant blow to the Garvfang psyche, and there are those who fear that the Warlord's dreams of reclaiming lost glory may lead his people into another disastrous conflict.
